Talley met shay when she was hiding in the woods after crashing a "Pretty" party. Shay, was doing the same thing except spying on the pretties.
Shay is from a different town then talley and she has different thoughts on the whole "pretty" idea. She teaches Talley how to hoverboard in the woods later after they meet and bond closer as friends. Then they use the board to see what they look transformed as a pretty and Shay isn't pleased with that.
So far I have found out that when you turn 16 they REPLACE all your flaws. Skin, Teeth, Mouth, Eyes, Hair , Mouth. Just about every flaw you could think of, they replace.
It seems like to me this whole book series is trying to say that we should never classify ourselves by looks or be prejudice to those who do not have good looks. I've been meaning to pick up the first book in this series but never really got around to it. Also, I think your blog is glitching out.
